A Sample Healthy Diet Plan

Many are confused about what a healthy diet means. This is probably because their concept of diet is about losing weight, controlling food intake or food deprivation. This runs opposite of what healthy means. A healthy diet simply means eating the right food to improve health, prevent diseases and eventually enjoy life.
Here is a sample healthy diet plan.
Breakfast
You can alternately have buttered toasts, baked potatoes, cereals and oatmeal. You can spread a spoonful of guava or strawberry jam in your buttered toasts once in a while to make it more appetizing. For your baked potato, you can sprinkle it with some bacon bits. You can add fruit bits and small vegetable slices to your cereals and oatmeal to make them more exciting. Have fruit juice on the side. Any of these will give you the nutrients that you need. You have carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals.
Snacks
Fruits should be your first option for snacks. A piece or two of banana is good. You can also have apples. As an alternative you can have oatmeal cookies or two slices of wheat bread.
Lunch
You can have brown rice for lunch. A healthy serving of brown rice is the size of your fist. As a viand you can have steamed fish with buttered vegetables. You can also choose to have grilled red meat or broiled chicken.
Snacks
You can have the same choices as your morning snacks. You can also add in your selection yoghurt or a slice of cake.
Dinner
For dinner you can have pasta. A healthy serving of pasta is also the size of your fist. A good choice of sauce is fresh tomato sauce or pesto sauce. You can also have mashed potato and a small slice of steak once in a while. A healthy serving of steak is about the size of a deck of cards. You can have salad on the side.
You can vary these choices to suit your needs. You just have to remember that you should have food from all food groups. Do not also forget to watch your portions. A healthy diet is easy to prepare. You can also be creative so that you enjoy eating healthy.
